2025-2026

  • Our winter meeting featured the First Annual OASIS/NJ Audubon EcoSchools conferenceSchool Sustainability Success Stories. The event took place on December 4th at The Lawrenceville School. The conference was a tremendous success, as we welcomed 90 teachers, students, and staff from over 20 schools and organizations in the region.
  • In the fall, OASIS members participated in a educational hike of the Sourland Mountains on October 5th with Laurie Cleveland, Executive Director of the Sourland Conservancy.
2024-2025
  • Spring meeting was a day of environmental service for students and faculty/staff in a local Princeton forest, Ridgeview Woods, removing invasive plants and learning about forest ecology.
  • The Winter meeting at the Pennington School was about building and supporting student environmental clubs at all ages. High school students from local schools joined to begin to form their own network.
  • The Fall meeting was a canoe trip on the Batsto River in the Pine Barrens for professional development on connecting curriculum to outdoor experiences.
2023-2024
  • Early summer meeting about sustainability of turf vs. grass fields on 6/20/24 at Princeton University with Jeff Graydon, Senior Associate Athletic Director at Princeton University. Click here for slides.
  • Spring meeting on 5/2/24. Host: Peddie School. Subgroup table talks:  How to get people on board with sustainability, Student engagement, particularly around on-campus actions (e.g., composting, recycling), and Interdisciplinary climate and environmental education.
  • Winter meeting on 2/1/24. Host: Princeton Day School. Topic: Campus Growing Projects. Welcome by new head of school, Dr. Kelley Nicholson-Flynn. Presentation by Kari Lloyd on schoolyard native plant garden and learning activity. Visit to PDS greenhouse and presentation by Eric Rempe on using the greenhouse across the curriculum.
  • Fall meeting on 11/2/23. Host: Lawrenceville School. Topic: Green Schools Alliance START program (Sustainability Tracking And Roadmap Tool). Gathering featured a farm-to-table meal provided by the Lawrenceville Big Red Farm and Sustainable Fare (school dining service).
2022-2023
  • Winter Meeting on 1/26/23 from 7-8:15 pm featured three sets of 15-minute presentations by OASIS members and community partners to address the topics of renewable energy, sustainable landscaping, and green infrastructure, followed by a rich Q&A. 1) Approving and Installing School Solar Panels featuring Gery Juleff of Princeton Montessori School 2) Fostering River-Friendly Practices on School Grounds with Olivia Spildooren of The Watershed Institute and Steve Laubach of The Lawrenceville School. 3) Planting Rain Gardens with Bottom-up Student Involvement, led by Kari Lloyd of Melvin H. Kreps Middle School

  • Continuation of discussion from January meeting. Representatives from Waldorf School and Princeton Friends School gave presentations on the sustainable landscape initiatives at each of their schools.
